Smart Services CRC - Service Delivery and Aggregation

Service Oriented Computing Research Group is a key partner in Smart Services CRC which has been awarded a $30.8 million grant from the Department of Education, Science and Training. The grant comes under the Australian Government's Cooperative Research Centres (CRC) Programme.

In particular, Service Delivery and Aggregation (SDA) project aims to create new technology and associated methodologies for fostering the adoption of online services and increasing the productivity of on-line service delivery. The SOC group is involved in 3 Workpackages: Uniform Metadata in Large Datasets (WP3), A Declarative Mashup Environment for Data Processing and Analysis (WP04) and Efficient Search and Aggregation Services for Large Datasets (WP5). The main industry partners for this project are Sirca and Infosys. For any additional information, please contact A/Prof Fethi Rabhi.

An important application area is processing news and financial market information.

eResearch Project - A Strategic Initiative of University of New South Wales

The initiative aims to attract leading researchers, enhancing and building upon the school’s existing strengths in the areas of Business Intelligence, Service, and Cloud Computing. In particular, the project members would focus on conducting cutting edge research in the area of Cloud service provisioning, performance models, and optimization techniques. Overall the research would be driven by frontier application areas: education, biology, finance, bio-informatics, environment, and massive scale data processing.

Current active members of this project include Prof. Boualem Benattallah, Dr. Rajiv Ranjan, and Dr. Srikumar Venugopal.
